Isle of Monsters

About this board game

Isle of Monsters is a 2–5 player set-collection and resource-gathering family game with a playing time of about 45 minutes. As monster wranglers on Nowhere Atoll, you must assemble a horrifying team for the local Scare Faire and compete to become the next Island Protector.

Each round, players claim monsters and gather the foods their beasts favor. Feed a monster completely by the end of the round, and it moves into your hand ready to perform. The challenge is to build powerful groups while managing the resources needed to nurture your harmless—but terrifying—creatures.

At the Scare Faire, each player chooses one color of monster from their hand and plays as many cards of that color as desired. Everyone reveals their selections simultaneously, and the player with the highest total scare value earns three scream points.

• Collect monsters and create sets by color.
• Gather favorite foods to fully feed your creatures.
• Choose how many monsters to commit to each Scare Faire.
• Earn bonus points by scaring other players’ monsters or holding more monsters than anyone else.

Timing and selection matter: a larger group may deliver a stronger scare, but keeping monsters in hand can also help secure a bonus. Play continues until no more monsters are available to replenish the monster decks on the island. The player with the most scream points wins Isle of Monsters and earns the title of Island Protector.
