About this board game

Jórvík is a strategy board game for 2–5 players that takes about 90 minutes to play. Set during the Viking age, it casts players as Viking jarls competing to earn the most prestige in the Norse-occupied city and kingdom of Jórvík, known today as York.

Players develop their trading empires by acquiring cards from a shared card display. The game’s central system combines worker placement with a simple yet clever bidding mechanism, creating opportunities to compete for valuable additions while managing the growth of your domain.

Prestige can be gained in several ways as you shape life in Jórvík. Trade goods, hold grand feasts, fund pillages, commission craftsmen, and hire soldiers to help defend the city against recurring invasions. Each activity contributes to the challenge of building a prosperous and well-protected Viking settlement.

Jórvík is a redesign of Die Speicherstadt from 2010. It includes two versions: a base game equivalent to Die Speicherstadt and an advanced game equivalent to Die Speicherstadt with its Kaispeicher expansion.

Whether pursuing trade, craftsmanship, feasting, pillage, or military defense, every jarl seeks the same reward: greater prestige than their rivals. The player with the most prestige points at the end wins.
