About this board game

Journey: Wrath of Demons is a cooperative miniatures board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 75 minutes on average. Based on a classic Chinese novel, it follows four Pilgrims searching ancient China for the Sutras, sacred scriptures said to bring salvation to a world overrun with Demons.

Each player can control one of the four Pilgrims: Tripitaka, Monkey, Monk Sha, or Cho Hakkai. In solo play, one player controls all four, with no other changes to the game. The game’s AI controls the Demons and other creatures, creating a shared challenge in which everyone wins or loses together.

Game cards and custom dice drive fast, tense action, while critical choices let the Pilgrims improve their skills during the journey. Across roughly ten quests, players encounter different goals and unique rules, leading to varied challenges from one game to the next.

• Fight Bull Demon minions and prepare for the climactic battle against the Bull Demon King.
• Choose between ruthless combat and a more virtuous path of cleansing Demons’ souls, saving villagers, and collecting good karma.
• Develop the Pilgrims’ abilities, skills, and equipment according to your decisions.
• Take on side quests for potential rewards, while risking the arrival of more Demons.

Killing Demons may be quick, but accumulating bad karma can carry a cost. Pursuing side quests may strengthen your group, yet spending extra time can make the journey more dangerous. In Journey: Wrath of Demons, cooperation and difficult choices shape every expedition toward the Sutras.
