About this board game
Khet: The Laser Game is a two-player, chess-like board game that takes about 20 minutes to play, combining Egyptian-themed pieces with movable mirrors and built-in laser beams.
Players alternate moving their pieces around the board. Some pieces contain mirrors, while others do not, creating a changing network of possible laser paths. After each move, the active player presses their laser button and watches the beam bounce across the playing field.
The board is surrounded by a raised frame with a low-power laser built in for each player. The pieces include a pharaoh, obelisks, and mirrored pyramids. Their positions and orientations determine how the laser travels from one piece to the next.
- Play with exactly two players.
- Move Egyptian-themed pieces around the board.
- Use mirrored pieces to redirect laser beams.
- Protect your own pharaoh while targeting your opponent’s.
Every turn presents a tactical challenge: improve your own position, defend your pharaoh, or maneuver into a line that can illuminate the opposing pharaoh. Since the laser is activated after each move, a seemingly helpful position can also expose a vulnerability.
With its combination of piece movement, reflection, and timing, Khet: The Laser Game turns a familiar chess-like structure into a visual contest of bouncing light. The Egyptian theme, raised playing frame, and physical lasers make each move easy to follow as the beam travels from mirror to mirror.
