Kill the Overlord

About this board game

Kill the Overlord is a fast-paced political murder game for 4 to 8 players, with a listed play time of 45 minutes. Every player is competing to survive a dangerous struggle for wealth, titles, and absolute power.

Being the Overlord may sound perfect: limitless wealth, groveling minions, and authority over every land. But power attracts enemies, and your subjects are plotting to remove you and claim your riches for themselves.

To protect the throne, the Overlord sends out an executioner with orders to kill the first person he meets. Unfortunately, this executioner is gullible and extremely enthusiastic about his work. Clever players can disway and misdirect him, turning the threat toward their rivals while trying to keep themselves out of danger.

The central challenge is simple but deadly: eliminate other players by sending the Overlord’s executioner after them, while making sure you are not the next target. Once the axe starts swinging, even the Overlord is no longer safe.

• Play with 4 to 8 players.
• Redirect the executioner and eliminate political rivals.
• Survive long enough to advance up the political ladder.
• Claim wealth, titles, and power as players are removed.

Whenever a player dies, the survivors climb another rung of the political ladder. They take the deceased player’s title, along with the wealth and power attached to it, creating a shifting contest for influence.

In Kill the Overlord, survival is only part of the goal. The first player to secure enough wealth and gain the title of Overlord becomes the True Ultimate Supreme Overlord and wins the game.
