Kings Cribbage

About this board game

Kings Cribbage is a board game for 2-4 players that combines Cribbage scoring with Scrabble-style tile placement in about 30 minutes.

The tiles correspond to cards from a standard deck, with one notable change: there are only two suits, represented by dark brown and light brown. Players place these tiles on the board in the manner of Scrabble, working to form the highest Cribbage hand possible.

Every tile placed must score. This rule makes each placement important, as the tiles you add need to contribute to a scoring hand rather than simply occupy space. Scoring follows standard Cribbage rules for the most part, while the board allows multiple scoring opportunities at once.

As in Scrabble, a single placement may score in multiple rows and/or columns at the same time. Players must therefore consider how each tile interacts with the existing layout while pursuing strong Cribbage combinations.

No more than five tiles may be placed consecutively, adding a clear limit to each placement. Released in 1997, Kings Cribbage brings two familiar systems together in a compact tile-laying and hand-scoring game.
