About this board game

Kingsport Festival is a Lovecraftian strategy game for 3–5 players, lasting about 90 minutes, in which sinister cult leaders compete to dominate the city and earn the most Cult points.

Across 12 rounds, players take the role of high priests serving shadowy cults. Each round begins with all Cultists rolling their dice. Turn order follows the totals, with the lowest sum playing first. Players then use one or more dice to invoke Elder Gods by matching their numbers exactly—or choose to pass.

These invocations bring powerful gifts, but they may also demand a sacrifice of Sanity. Once the dice have been reclaimed, each Cultist can expand their domain by placing a disk on a connected Building, beginning from the House and paying the required Domain resources. Careful positioning and resource management are essential to increasing your influence.

  • Invoke Elder Gods by combining dice to match their numbers.
  • Gain rewards while managing the cost to your Sanity.
  • Expand through connected Buildings and develop your domain.
  • Face Events and Investigators during scheduled Raids.

On calendar rounds marked with a blue marker, a Raid occurs. An Event card and an Investigator card are revealed, after which each Cultist calculates Strength from Spells, Buildings, and other effects. Greater Strength brings rewards; lower Strength triggers the listed penalty.

After the twelfth round, any Festival card included by the Scenario is revealed and resolved. In Kingsport Festival, the Cultist with the most Cult points wins—if their sanity and influence can survive the campaign.
