About this board game
Kingswood is a 45-minute board game for 1–5 players, challenging guilds to clear a monster-filled forest and earn fame and glory.
Players take turns controlling adventurers as they travel around the village. Each move takes an adventurer to a new location, activating the actions associated with both the starting and ending locations. Because every player controls the same adventurers, each choice also changes the options available to opponents.
Visit the village locations to build or refresh your resources. The Blacksmith provides swords, the Academy offers spell books, the Market supplies coins, and the Tavern provides hearts. Seven other locations are available, with one used in each game to add variety through a range of special abilities.
- Gather swords, spell books, coins, and hearts.
- Use the action rotation mechanism to shape your available moves.
- Venture into the Forest when you are ready to face monsters.
- Defeat monsters to gain glory, with some also providing immediate benefits.
The first player to reach 20 glory triggers the end of the game. After all players have taken an equal number of turns, the guild leader with the highest glory total wins.
With its shared adventurers and rotating actions, Kingswood makes movement through the village central to every decision. The game is designed by Henry Audubon, known for Space Park and PARKS, and illustrated by Tristam Rossin, known for 3 Laws of Robotics and Rune.
