About this board game

Kinoko is a 2022 card and dice game for 2–4 players about secretly gathering three members of a mushroom family in one location.

At the start of each round, every player secretly draws a color card representing a mushroom family, such as musicians or scientists, and receives a hand of three mushroom cards. Your goal is to bring all three members of your family together during your turn. The reunion can occur in any player’s hand or on the table.

On your turn, roll three dice and choose one result. The die may show a number or an icon, and its result determines the action you can take. Possible actions include exchanging two cards, swapping two sets of cards, or secretly picking any card.

The challenge in Kinoko comes from limited information and restricted choices. You can see the cards in other players’ hands, but your decisions are still limited by the result you choose from the three dice. Every action can shift the cards you need—or help another player complete their family first.

There is another danger to consider: each round, one mushroom family becomes poisonous. When the round ends, having a card of that color in your hand earns a negative point. The round winner scores positive points, and the first player to reach 4 points wins.
