About this board game

Koalition is a political power game for 4–10 players, with an average play time of 90 minutes, set across the 15 countries of the European Union.

Sixty politicians of every political color stand for election, but formal party loyalties and manifestos are far from the true source of power. Behind the scenes, Machiavellian power brokers pull the strings of their politician puppets, seeking influence, profitable leadership, and control over Europe.

In Koalition, conventional politics is little more than a public performance. Players pay just enough lip service to democratic rules to keep voters quiet while pursuing tactical coalitions and positions of influence. The path to power is shaped by opportunism rather than principle.

• Manipulate a field of 60 politicians across 15 European Union countries.

The game’s political landscape rewards those willing to abandon consistency and exploit every opening. Candidates can be elevated, opponents undermined, and alliances formed whenever they serve the larger struggle for influence.

Released in 1992, Koalition presents a cynical vision of European politics in which self-appointed leaders and unseen lobbyists hold the real power. Cloaked in phony democracy, every scandal, campaign, and coalition contributes to one overriding objective: gaining total power over Europe.
