About this board game
Krieg! World War II in Europe is a strategic-level hex-and-counter wargame for 2–3 players, with an approximately 1,800-minute playing time. Covering the European and North African theaters from September 1939 through December 1945, it presents a large-scale contest between the Axis and Allied powers.
Players represent the Axis, the Western Allies, and the Soviet Allies. In a two-player game, one player handles both Allied turns, bringing the conflict’s distinct Allied forces into a single side of the game.
The game includes more than 400 counters depicting major and minor powers, giving the campaign a broad representation of the forces involved. Special “what if” option cards add alternate possibilities to the historical framework.

Two large folded paper maps provide the playing area: one depicts Eastern and Western Europe, while the other covers the Mediterranean region. Together, they support a wide-ranging World War II campaign spanning the major locations named in the game’s scope.
Released in 1996, Krieg! offers a substantial tabletop treatment of World War II in Europe for players seeking an extended strategic wargame built around counters, maps, opposing alliances, and alternate-history options.
