About this board game
Kursk, South Flank: A Panzer Grenadier Game is a two-player World War II game with approximately 60 minutes of play time, depicting the German assault on the Soviet lines during the 1943 Battle of Kursk.
This stand-alone game places the German SS Panzer Corps against the Soviet 40th Army. The advance meets fierce counter-attacks from the Sixth Guards Army and First Tank Army, creating a focused contest between German offensive power and determined Soviet resistance.
The game features masses of armored units representing the forces committed to the southern flank. German formations can bring Tigers, mobile artillery, and other equipment to the battle, while Soviet forces include T-34 tanks in three models, T-70 light tanks, and Lend-Lease Grants.
- 40 scenarios provide a substantial range of battles.
- Four semi-rigid mapboards portray the battlefield.
- The game is fully playable on its own, with no other Panzer Grenadier title required.
- Design comes from Panzer Grenadier veteran Mike Perryman.
The setting reflects the enormous scale of the Kursk offensive: Germany committed 50 divisions, including 17 panzer and panzer grenadier divisions with more than 3,000 tanks, while the prepared Soviet defenses were backed by 3,600 tanks. Kursk, South Flank brings this clash to the tabletop through a dedicated selection of scenarios and armored forces.
Released in 2012, this entry in the Panzer Grenadier series offers a direct way to explore the German attack and the Soviet response without needing another game from the series.
