About this board game
La Bataille de la Moscowa is a two-player wargame simulation of the Battle of Borodino, with an approximately 1,000-minute play time. It portrays Napoleon’s Grand Armée against the Russian First and Second West Armies under Prince Kutusow on September 7, 1812.
The game operates at the regimental/battalion level, presenting the battle through a scale of 100 meters per hex. Each game turn represents 20 minutes, while strength is measured at 50–100 men per strength point, identified as regimental or brigade size.
Players can explore the battle through six short scenarios or take on the full grand battle game. This structure offers both focused situations and a complete simulation of the historic engagement, all within the same battlefield system.

La Bataille de la Moscowa won the Charles Roberts Award in 1976. Its first edition, published by Marshall/Martial Enterprises, is described as the “Grandmother” of the later La Bataille Series from Clash of Arms.
With its extensive counter mix, multiple maps, and detailed historical scale, La Bataille de la Moscowa presents Borodino as a substantial tabletop study of the confrontation between Napoleon’s forces and the Russian armies.
