Lanzeloth

About this board game

Lanzeloth is a card game for 2–6 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. Each player builds a knight from five body-part cards—head, lance, shield, body, and shoes—along with an additional horse card.

All cards begin face down, keeping each knight’s strength uncertain. The body parts have different strength values ranging from zero to five, while each horse provides special powers for the tournament round.

On a turn, draw a card from the stack or take the top card from the discard pile. You may then replace one of your cards with the new card, provided it is the same type, or discard it to use its special action.

These actions let you gather information, reveal strength, and alter the knights around the table. Because cards can remain hidden, every decision helps shape both your own knight and your assessment of the competition.

When a player announces a tournament, all other players receive one final turn. The horses’ abilities are then resolved, and everyone compares the total strength value of their knight. The winner receives trophies based on the power difference between the strongest and second-strongest players.

After the tournament, all cards are reshuffled and a new round begins. The first player to collect the required number of trophies—determined by the number of players—wins. With card replacement, special actions, hidden values, and a carefully timed tournament announcement, Lanzeloth combines set-building with tense decisions about when to compete.
