About this board game
Last Chance for Victory: The Battle of Gettysburg is a regimental-level historical wargame for 2 players, listed with a 60-minute play time, that explores the Battle of Gettysburg through the streamlined Line of Battle system.
Rather than treating the battle as a straightforward Union victory, the game examines the missed opportunities, difficult orders, and uncertain battlefield conditions that shaped the campaign. Players can investigate why Cemetery Hill and Culp’s Hill were not taken, how earlier or better-coordinated attacks might have changed the second day, and how vulnerable the Union position was before Pickett’s Charge.
The game includes Line of Battle v2.0 rules, incorporating refinements and suggestions from hundreds of players. Its historical behavior and control rules can also be adjusted before play, allowing groups to test different settings for commanders and activities that might otherwise remain outside the players’ control.
- 22 scenarios, with up to three size variations
- Six full-color maps, including dedicated layouts for the first day and for the second and third days
- A four-map campaign arrangement, with the entire battle also playable using two linked maps
- 2,240 counters, including units, leaders, and markers
- Series and game-specific rulebooks, order-of-arrival booklets, charts, tables, and play aids
Last Chance for Victory is designed to balance historical insight with practical playability while presenting a deeper, more nuanced interpretation of Gettysburg. Its scenarios support both large campaign games and smaller engagements, giving players multiple ways to explore the battle and draw their own conclusions about its decisive moments.
