About this board game

Leaders of Euphoria: Choose a Better Oppressor is a 2017 social deduction game for 4–8 players, with a playing time of about 35 minutes. Set before the events of Euphoria, it follows the political struggle between the Euphorians and Subterrans as the young city’s factions compete for control.

Choose a side, identify your allies, and uncover the opposing team before they can dominate the city. Each player has three cards in front of them that determine whether they belong to the Euphorian or Subterran team. These cards are investigated throughout the game, creating a tense contest of deduction and shifting loyalties.

Instead of the equipment cards used in Good Cop Bad Cop, Leaders of Euphoria uses artifacts from the Old World. Artifacts can be given to other players during a dedicated Artifact Phase or used as a standard action, adding another way to influence the investigation and the players around you.

  • Secret Euphorian and Subterran team identities
  • Three cards per player to investigate
  • Old World artifacts used and exchanged during play
  • Recruit cards that can be hidden or exposed
  • No player elimination: banished players become Wastelanders

Hiding one of your Recruit cards is an important option, because key actions cannot be used without a hidden recruit to expose. This creates a careful balance between concealing information and preparing to act.

Players who are banished from the city do not simply leave the game. They become Wastelanders and receive a new victory condition, ensuring that political defeat can open a different route to success. In this dystopian struggle, choosing a better oppressor may be the only way to survive.
