About this board game

Legion of Honor is a card-driven game for 1–6 players that recreates the personal drama of the Napoleonic wars across an approximately 480-minute campaign.

Each player takes the role of a French soldier, or grognard, beginning as a young sergeant or sous-lieutenant in 1792. Over more than twenty years of almost continuous war, you will seek advancement while history unfolds around you—from the arrest and execution of Louis XVI to Napoleon’s coronation, major battles, and the Hundred Days of 1815.

The game is divided into campaign seasons spanning the Brunswick Manifesto through 1815. Each season includes In Garrison and On Campaign rounds, where historical events occur as they did in reality—apart from the final question of what the climactic battle of 1815 will be called.

• Advance through ranks from Sergent to Marechal.
• Pursue titles, offices, the Legion of Honor, and Napoleon’s Notice.
• Develop Glory, Money, Health, Charm, Fencing, and Standing.
• Face opportunities shaped by both your choices and Fate, from serving with the Army of the Orient to recovering from wounds.

Your grognard can seek recognition in many forms. Victory may come through holding the highest award in the Legion of Honor, achieving the highest military rank, or accumulating the most glory or wealth.

Legion of Honor supports solitaire play through six players. It includes two four-hour scenarios covering the Republican and Imperial periods, plus an eight-hour grand scenario combining both eras.
