Living Forest Duel

About this board game

Living Forest Duel is a two-player strategy game with a 20-minute playing time, released in 2025. Players take the roles of the spirits of Summer and Winter, competing to save the sacred forest and become its ultimate protector.

Each player aims to be the first to complete one of four victory conditions. You might build a 3×3 rectangle of Guardian Tree cards, fill the recruitment line with only animals from your season, collect 8 Fire tokens, or move the Onibi creature to your opponent’s side after they gain the Onibi card.

• Plant a 3×3 rectangle of Guardian Tree cards in your Forest.
• Have only cards from your season on the recruitment line.
• Collect 8 Fire tokens.
• Move Onibi to your opponent’s side once they possess the Onibi card.

Turns alternate between two choices. You can draw a Guardian Animal card and place it face up on the appropriate help line, or use one of your two Action tokens on a card in the shared help line. Animals provide elements that power actions, but revealing too many solitary animals can cost you an Action token after three solitary symbols.

Action tokens let you recruit Guardian Animals, extinguish fire by collecting Fire tokens, plant protective trees, or advance Onibi toward your opponent. At the end of the turn, fire and water values are compared, fire tokens may add seasonal fire varan cards to the discard pile, and new fire tokens are placed beside Onibi.

After both players have used their Action tokens, the cards in the help lines and personal lines are discarded before the tokens are retrieved. With no prior knowledge of Living Forest required, Living Forest Duel offers a focused seasonal showdown built around tactical timing and multiple paths to victory.
