About this board game

London Necropolis Railway is a strategy board game for 2–4 players, with a playing time of approximately 90 minutes. Set in London in 1849, it challenges players to design a railway system connecting the city to a new cemetery outside its limits.

The cholera epidemic has overwhelmed London’s ability to inter the dead, creating an urgent need for a permanent solution. As competing planners, you must submit the most successful proposal for the London Terminus, the Brookwood Necropolis, and the railway linking them.

Each turn, choose a card and take its two associated action discs. You may then activate 1–3 actions shown on the card by spending matching discs. These actions help you improve different parts of your system while requiring careful management of your money, staff, and progress across each section.

• Develop the London Terminus.
• Expand and fill the Brookwood Necropolis.
• Improve the Railway connecting the two locations.
• Spend action discs to increase your system’s prestige.

Prestige is an important part of your plan, as it can increase the points earned from improvements to London. You will need to balance your available actions and resources while keeping pace with development in every part of the network.

After twelve rounds, scoring focuses primarily on two achievements: the prestige of your London Terminus and how well you have filled the Necropolis. In London Necropolis Railway, the player with the most points earns the city’s contract and a place among history’s great planners.
