About this board game

LOOP is a 15-minute card game for 2–4 players, built around matching combinations, tactical passes, and changing player positions.

In each round, players receive eleven cards from a deck of three suits, with values numbered 1–15. Each player secretly sets aside two cards before the first trick begins.

The lead player may play a single card, a pair of matching numbers, or a sequence of two or more consecutive cards in the same suit. Other players must beat that combination with a higher matching play or pass. Passing is not permanent, so a player may return to the trick later.

All played cards remain in front of the player who used them. When everyone else passes, the trick winner leads again. Playing an 8, either alone or as part of a combination, makes everyone pass immediately and lets that player start a new trick.

  • Go out to score based on how many players still hold cards.
  • Use a hidden 8 to declare donden, reversing the values so 1s are high and 15s are low for the rest of the round.
  • Change seats between rounds, then reuse the cards played in front of you.

Play continues until all but one player have emptied their hands. The last player then takes over a new seat, determined by the number of players, and everyone picks up the eleven cards in front of them before discarding two and playing again.

Position matters in LOOP: the player in the fourth seat can earn points by finishing higher, especially in first place, while poor performance from the first seat can cost points. Continue through multiple rounds until a player reaches the point threshold set for the player count.
