About this board game
Lords of War: Elves versus Lizardmen is a strategic card game for 2–8 players, with battles lasting around 30 minutes. Two fantasy armies clash through tactical positioning, card-driven attacks, and carefully timed combat decisions.
Each player commands a 36-card army deck and maintains a hand of six unit cards. On a turn, one card is placed onto the gridded board. Except for ranged units, newly played cards must be placed adjacent to an enemy unit, immediately bringing the opposing armies into contact.
Every unit has a unique pattern of attack arrows along its edges and corners. These arrows show which neighboring cards it attacks and how much damage it inflicts. After placement, an elimination phase checks whether opposing cards—and the newly played unit—have been defeated by damage exceeding their defense values.
Once combat is resolved, the active player either draws a card from the army deck or retrieves a unit from the board that did not engage in combat during that turn. Victory goes to the player who eliminates twenty units or four commanders.
- Elves: Strong cavalry and archers supported by comparatively weak infantry.
- Lizardmen: A flexible force designed to disrupt and counter enemy attack strategies.
- Two complete armies: The game is ready to play out of the box.
Lords of War: Elves versus Lizardmen is compatible with Orcs versus Dwarves, allowing all released Lords of War armies to battle one another. Armies may also be blended using a strict ranking system to create mercenary decks for tournament play.
