About this board game

Lost Empires: War for the New Sun is a head-to-head, card-driven area control game for 2 players, with a play time of about 30 minutes. Set in the year 581, it places rival commanders in a struggle for control of a distant planet and its ancient alien artifacts.

Earth is near ruins, making 581 a potential second home for humanity. Four factions fight to decide who will rule: Terra Corps, Scion Imperium, Neo Human Republic, and Feng. Each player takes command of a Hive, a large interstellar base used to house, control, and deploy troops during the invasion.

Before the battle begins, each player chooses a faction and builds an 18-card deck using the cards available to that faction. Those decks drive tactical movement and combat as forces contest objectives, seek artifacts, and attempt to destroy elite enemy units enhanced with alien technology.

  • Head-to-head area control: Compete directly for dominance over 581.
  • Faction-based deck design: Construct an 18-card deck from your chosen faction’s available cards.
  • Artifact-driven victory: Earn artifacts by controlling objectives and destroying augmented elite units.
  • Wormgate race: Use sufficient artifacts to construct a Wormgate and claim victory.

In Lost Empires: War for the New Sun, every objective and elite unit can contribute to the larger race for supremacy. Gather enough artifacts to build the first Wormgate, transport your armies through it, and win the war for the new sun.
