About this board game
Lucky Numbers is a puzzle game for 1–4 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Your goal is to be the first player to complete a 4×4 grid, while working with a changing supply of numbered tiles.
To begin, each player receives four tiles and places them in ascending order along the diagonal from the upper left to the lower right. The remaining tiles are shuffled face down, creating a shared draw pile, while discarded tiles become available face up on the table.
On each turn, choose either a face-down tile or a face-up tile. You may then:
- Place it in an empty space in your grid.
- Swap it with a tile already in your grid.
- Discard it face up on the table.
Every tile in your grid must follow the same ordering rule at all times. It must be higher than any tile directly above it or immediately to its left, and lower than any tile directly below it or immediately to its right. This makes every placement a careful decision as you work toward filling all sixteen spaces.
The first player to fill their grid wins. If the draw pile runs out first, the player with the most tiles in their grid wins instead. Lucky Numbers can also be played as a tournament: each player starts one game, the winner earns 2 points, and each loser loses 1 point for every empty space in their grid.
The 2020 edition includes a solo mode with forty puzzles to solve. Originally released in 2012, Lucky Numbers combines simple placement rules with an evolving challenge for game nights or solo play.
