About this board game

Luzon Rails is a strategic railway investment game for 3–5 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Set on Luzon, the largest and most populous island in the Philippines, it challenges players to build railroad networks, improve companies, and profit when dividends are paid.

Each player takes the role of a rail investor. You buy stock in companies and seek to strengthen their networks, while the island’s difficult geography creates demanding choices. Mountain ranges, wetlands, and an established shipping industry all affect the value and reach of your railway plans.

Companies begin from variable starting locations, helping each game feel different. Actions are selected by playing action cards either from your hand or from a central pool, creating tough decisions and opportunities for risky moves. The changing availability of actions can also influence how you approach auctions and decide how aggressively to bid.

Landlocked cities provide a long-term bonus to companies that later connect them to coastal cities. Reaching Manila can deliver a one-off dividend payment to investors, while the Southern peninsula creates tight competition when multiple companies target its cities.
