About this board game
Magi-Nation Duel is a collectible card game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Each player takes the role of a Magi, using their powers to summon creatures and send them into battle.
Rather than relying on lands or another separate system to generate magical power, the game makes power management part of every decision. Players siphon power from their Magi or their monsters to perform attacks and put cards into play, controlling how many powerful cards they can attempt to unleash in a single turn.
This resource system creates a distinctive risk-and-reward choice: to fuel more powerful attacks and techniques, you may need to sacrifice your own creatures. Every play involves weighing the strength you want to spend against the creatures and power you need to keep in the fight.

Magi-Nation Duel was designed for players who felt Pokémon was too much of a kids’ game but were not ready to move into the highly competitive, older-targeted world of Magic: The Gathering. Its concept also inspired a cartoon series and a Game Boy Color video game.
Released in 2000, the game’s starter decks include the required counters, a six-sided die, quick-reference player aids, and a play mat, providing the basic materials needed to begin a duel.
