About this board game
Major Battles and Campaigns of General George S. Patton is a two-player World War II wargame for a 30-minute session, with one player commanding the Allied forces and the other leading the German forces. Released in 1973, it includes three complete games based on battles Patton participated in.
Choose the campaign that fits your interest: Sicily, an invasion to capture Italy’s southern island fortress; Normandy Breakout, the critical campaign sweeping toward Berlin; or the Battle of the Bulge, featuring the daring breakthrough to Bastogne. Each scenario uses historically accurate maps and initial troop deployments.
- Three complete WWII campaign games
- A two-sided 19 × 26-inch game board
- 112 die-cut cardboard Allied and German units
- 24 troop movement cards
- Five red and five white battle dice
Movement is governed by the troop movement card deck, creating a brisk flow while preserving important campaign decisions. Battles are resolved with a distinctive dice system based on rolling multiples of any number, offering a quick alternative to more involved combat procedures.
Although the counters and presentation reflect the era in which it was published, the movement cards and battle-resolution system are notably innovative. Together, they help Major Battles and Campaigns of General George S. Patton move quickly without sacrificing movement and battle detail.
For players interested in compact historical wargames, this title presents three different Patton-related campaigns in one box, allowing Allied and German forces to clash across varied WWII battle settings.
