About this board game

Manifest Destiny is a card-driven strategy game for 3–5 players, set in North America from colonial times to the present, with games lasting about 240 minutes.

Each player controls a mercantile empire seeking to expand into territories containing new markets across the continent. Success depends on balancing several competing opportunities rather than following a fixed route to victory.

Players use cash to purchase Progressions and tokens. Progressions provide additional capabilities during the game, while tokens support territorial expansion and can be used to purchase Pioneers, cities, and additional cards.

  • Card-driven multiplayer strategy for 3–5 players
  • Mercantile empire-building across North America
  • Progressions that grant additional capabilities
  • Tokens for expansion and important purchases
  • A different strategic path in every game

Manifest Destiny combines strategic elements associated with longer civilization-based games with the streamlined elegance of European gaming. As the successor to Age of Renaissance, it retains a broad strategic focus while being significantly simpler and quicker to play.

Every game presents a fresh challenge, with no standard path to victory. Cards and Progressions are designed to help players who are falling behind, keeping the competition open and making strategic balance especially important. How you manage cash, capabilities, expansion, and purchases will determine whether you achieve your destiny.

Released in 2005, Manifest Destiny offers a substantial strategy experience for groups looking to guide a growing empire through a broad sweep of North American history.
