About this board game
Marco Polo II: In the Service of the Khan is a standalone board game for 2–4 players, with a playing time of 120 minutes. It continues the journeys of Marco Polo as players travel west from Beijing in service of the Khan.
In this new journey, merchants venture to the farthest reaches of the Khan’s empire in search of wealth and fame. Players still complete contracts for money, but the game introduces a new board, fresh action spaces, and several new ways to pursue points.
- Seals and shields: New mechanisms that provide new and different actions.
- Chinese jade: A new resource added to the game.
- Contracts: Complete contracts to earn money while developing your journey.
- New scoring rules: Points are awarded for contracts, gold, shields, seals, and goods.
The game lasts exactly five rounds. During that time, players use the available action spaces, manage their resources, complete contracts, and seek the most valuable combination of scoring opportunities.
Marco Polo II: In the Service of the Khan is based on The Voyages of Marco Polo, but it is fully standalone, so the original game is not required. When the fifth round ends, the player with the most points wins.
