MBT: FRG

About this expansion

MBT: FRG is a 1–2-player expansion for MBT, with an approximately 360-minute play time, focused on the Federal Republic of Germany’s armored and mechanized forces.

Defending the Fatherland against a looming Soviet invasion, West Germany’s panzer and panzergrenadier divisions deploy Leopard tanks, Marder infantry fighting vehicles, and Jaguar tank destroyers. The expansion places 1st Corps within NATO’s Northern Army Group alongside BAOR, while 2nd and 3rd Corps stand with the US 7th Army in the Central Army Group.

The box adds 10 scenarios and four double-sided geomorphic mapboards. These 10×27-inch boards can be combined with maps from the MBT base game and other expansions to create varied battlefields. Detailed West German tables of organization and equipment are also included.

• German units include Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 variants, Marder 1A2 vehicles, Jaguar 1 and 2 tank destroyers, Gepard anti-aircraft vehicles, M113 variants, the TPZ Fuchs, and more.
• German aircraft include the Alpha Jet A, Alouette II, BO-105P PAH-1A1, Tornado IDS, and UH-1D Iroquois.
• Additional Soviet and US units include T-55M, T-64BV, T-80 variants, M1 Abrams variants, and M60A3 TTS tanks.

A new leader system adds optional battlefield commanders to MBT: FRG. Thirty double-sided Leader counters—10 each for US, German, and Soviet forces—can affect combat, suppression recovery, morale, spotting, indirect-fire response, close assaults, and overruns. Players may add any number of leaders by mutual agreement.

Only the MBT basic game is required to play this expansion; MBT: BAOR and MBT: 4CMBG are not required. The box includes three counter sheets, 11 Data Cards, a Playbook, and a 10-sided die.
