About this board game

Mecanisburgo is a science-fiction strategy game for 2–6 players, with play time of approximately 120 minutes, set in an alternate present where the predictions of classic science-fiction visionaries have come true.

At the center of this transformed world stands Mecanisburgo, the megalopolis capital of the world. It is also the arena for a struggle between the biggest corporations, each represented by a player and each possessing different special abilities.

The game lasts four turns. Players compete to build the strongest position and collect victory points, with the corporation holding the most points at the end declared the winner—unless a sudden victory has already changed the outcome.

  • Alternate-preset victories: The game can include victory conditions that vary from one playthrough to another.
  • Character victories: Satisfying a character’s victory conditions can provide another path to an immediate win.
  • Global threat victory: The corporation last in victory points may become a global threat that the other players must stop.

These alternative routes make the final result about more than simply counting points. Players must pay attention to changing victory possibilities, the abilities of competing corporations, and the danger posed by the player falling behind.

Released in 2008, Mecanisburgo combines corporate rivalry with a world inspired by the ideas of classic science fiction authors such as Asimov, Conan Doyle, and Clarke. Its four-turn structure and multiple victory paths create a focused contest in which the race for points is only one part of the story.
