Power Grid: High-Voltage DC Transmission Passage C

About this expansion

Power Grid: High-Voltage DC Transmission Passage C is a mini-expansion for 2–6 players, with a play time of 120 minutes, designed solely for the Power Grid map of Germany.

In the future envisioned by this expansion, Germany plans a new high-voltage transmission line from North Germany to South Germany. The line is intended to deliver electricity produced by wind power to the regions in South Germany where that power is in demand.

The transmission line is built collectively. As construction progresses step by step, power companies will no longer need to pay connection costs between Cuxhaven and Stuttgart. This shared development creates the central premise of Power Grid: High-Voltage DC Transmission Passage C and ties the two locations together through a planned north-to-south connection.

However, the line is funded with tax money. Power companies must therefore pay taxes when supplying these cities with electricity. The expansion combines the benefit of a jointly built transmission route with the stated cost of supporting its construction through taxation.

High-Voltage DC Transmission Passage C was first released as day 24 of the Brettspiel Adventskalender 2015. It was later made available in a pack of promos for backers of the Game Boy Geek 2017 Kickstarter.

For players using the Germany map, this mini-expansion adds a specific future infrastructure project to the setting: a collective transmission line carrying wind-generated electricity toward southern demand. Its focus remains firmly on the route between Cuxhaven and Stuttgart, the connection costs affected by its progress, and the taxes required to supply the cities.
