Merchants of Araby

About this board game

Merchants of Araby is a competitive board game for 2–5 players, with a play time of approximately 90 minutes. Players seek to become the wealthiest merchant prince or princess in all of Araby.

Each player works to establish an entourage of merchants and allies while pursuing the coins needed for victory. You can teach virtues, summon djinni, negotiate frequently, and make successful caravan investments as you build your path to prosperity.

During your turn, take actions such as:

• Playing cards
• Tasking merchants
• Starting a caravan
• Negotiating with your opponents

These actions may be taken multiple times and in any order you choose, giving you freedom to shape your turn around your plans. Manage your available opportunities, develop your merchant entourage, and pursue the actions that will help increase your total coins.

The game lasts four rounds, with each round representing one season of a year. When the fourth round ends, players count their total coins. The player with the most coins is declared the winner.

With its focus on merchants, allies, negotiation, djinni, and caravan investments, Merchants of Araby challenges players to pursue wealth across a complete year of play. Released in 2017, it offers a 2–5 player experience centered on flexible turns and the race to become the leading merchant prince or princess.
