Metro X

About this board game

Metro X is a simultaneous subway-network game for 1–6 players that plays in about 20 minutes. Using an individual Tokyo or Osaka map, each player fills station spaces and makes choices about which lines to develop.

On every turn, an indicator card is revealed and everyone selects a subway line. Number cards let you fill consecutive station spaces with circles, while circled numbers allow you to skip spaces that are already filled. A circle lets you mark any empty station, and a star places a number based on how many lines intersect at the chosen station.

• Build connected routes: Fill station spaces across an interwoven subway system.
• Choose carefully: Each line has limited indicator boxes, making every selection important.
• Target intersections: Star bonuses are especially valuable at stations crossed by multiple lines.
• Race for rewards: Be the first to complete routes and claim their larger bonuses.

Completing a subway line earns its larger bonus for the first player to finish it. Other players cross out that reward, but they can still claim the smaller bonus if they complete the same line later. Multiple players may complete a line and score its bonus on the same turn.

The game ends once all indicator boxes are filled. Players add points from completed lines and numbers written in station boxes, then lose points for empty spaces remaining on their map. In Metro X, efficient planning, flexible use of the revealed cards, and timely route completion can turn a crowded subway map into a high-scoring network.
