Mindbug: First Contact is a two-player tactical card game that plays in about 25 minutes. Summon strange hybrid creatures, use their powerful abilities, and reduce your opponent’s life total to zero before they can do the same to you.

Each player begins with ten creature cards: five in hand and five in a draw pile. Creatures include imaginative combinations such as a Compost Dragon, Snail Hydra, and Kangasaurus Rex, with each card bringing its own distinctive and powerful ability to the duel.

The game’s defining feature is the Mindbug mechanism. Each player receives two Mindbug cards, which can be used to take control of an opposing creature when it is played. A creature that looked like a powerful play can suddenly become a threat on the other side, making every summon a tense decision.

• No resources are required to play a card.
• There is no ramp-up phase or need for weak cards.
• No deck-building is required, so play can begin with a single deck.
• Players draw from the same deck and can always mind control the strongest opposing cards.

Because cards can be powerful from the start, Mindbug: First Contact focuses on timing, risk, and tactical judgment rather than resource accumulation. Playing the best card immediately may be dangerous if your opponent can claim it, while holding back may give you more control over the battle.
