About this board game
Minion Hunter is a 1992 board game for 1–6 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes, based on GDW’s Dark Conspiracy role-playing game. Players develop their resources around the edge of the board before entering a map of the United States to confront dangerous enemies.
During the early part of the game, players work to build up their cash, weaponry, equipment, and four categories of ability points. The central area of the board contains the USA map alongside a progression track for Dark Minion plots. Cards on this track show city names on their backs and monster names with attack scores on their fronts.
When a player is strong and wealthy enough, they can enter the map and fight the enemies represented by the cards currently on the track. The enemy cards advance after every player turn, creating a race against time as each plot moves toward completion.
- Supports 1–6 players.
- Play time is approximately 60 minutes.
- Develop cash, weapons, equipment, and four types of ability points.
- Fight enemies shown on advancing Dark Minion plot cards.
- Cooperate to prevent the Dark Minions from winning.
If a card reaches the end of the progression track, its corresponding Dark Minion—Nukid, ETs, Morlocks, or Fey—gains points toward taking over America. Players must therefore improve their own success scores while also working together to prevent a shared defeat.
Minion Hunter combines personal development with cooperative pressure, asking players to judge when they are ready to leave the board’s outer edge and confront the threats unfolding across the map. The game was expanded by Minion Nation.
