About this board game
Mint Condition Comics is a comic-collection game for 2–6 players that takes about 60 minutes to play. Originally released in 2019, it challenges players to build the best collection by picking through piles, trading comics, and completing valuable sets.
A game is typically played over three rounds. At the start of each round, the comic book cards are shuffled to create a deck, a market called the Comic Book Shop, and three piles of comics. The round continues until the deck and all three piles have run out.
On a turn, players first decide whether to trade with the Comic Book Shop or with another player. They then choose how boldly to approach the available piles: look at the last pile and either keep it or move on to the next one, adding a card to the pile they just examined.
- Trade with the Comic Book Shop or another player
- Evaluate piles before deciding whether to keep them or move on
- Add collected cards to form or expand comic book sets
- Score based on set completion and that round’s special bonuses
Once a player picks a pile, its cards immediately join their collection and can be used to form or expand sets. This makes each decision matter: moving on may reveal a better opportunity, but it also adds another card to the pile left behind.
At the end of every round, players score points according to how complete their sets are, along with any special bonuses for that round. After the third and final round, the player with the highest total score wins. With its mix of trading, set building, and calculated pile selection, Mint Condition Comics offers a focused contest for players seeking the strongest comic book collection.
