Miskatonic University: The Restricted Collection is a 2019 game for 2–5 players that takes about 45 minutes. Players undertake an extremely dangerous quest through the library’s Restricted Collection, searching grimoires for fragments of lore and pieces of a particular sigil.

The game lasts five rounds. Each round continues until no one remains in the library, with players leaving voluntarily or being expelled. On a turn, a player selects a library card and places it face up on their player mat.

Library cards come in three types, each offering a different path through the collection:

• Sigil pieces: Three pieces form a set and earn a lore card. Taking a duplicate can cause expulsion unless a defense card is used.
• Grimoire fragments: Five pieces form a set and earn a lore card. Duplicates can also lead to expulsion unless defended against.
• Graduate students: Collecting four allows a player to reuse one of their defense cards.

Players may also have opportunities to win black or red sanity cards, which increase their score. Managing the cards collected from the Restricted Collection is essential, since a duplicate can abruptly end a player’s time in the library.

When the fifth and final round is complete, players total all the score cards they have received. The player with the highest score wins. With its dangerous search for sigil pieces, grimoire fragments, and valuable lore, Miskatonic University: The Restricted Collection turns a library visit into a race to recover knowledge and survive the collection.
