About this board game
Modern Naval Battles: Global Warfare is a naval strategy card game for 2–6 players, with each game taking approximately 1 to 2 hours. Designed as a redesigned improvement of the original 1989 game and its two expansions, it brings modern fleet warfare to the tabletop with low complexity and accessible rules for ages 10 and up.
At the start of play, each player selects a nation’s fleet to command. You then choose specific ships to create the battle group you believe is best, before sending it into battle against fleets selected by the other players. This focus on fleet selection and ship choice puts meaningful decisions at the center of every turn.
The game features ships from nine nations, supporting battles inspired by the Cold War, the Falkland Islands War, and post-2000 naval warfare. The included nations are:
- USA
- USSR
- UK
- France
- China
- Argentina
- Taiwan
- Norway
- Japan
Released in 2008, Modern Naval Battles: Global Warfare includes 110 full-color ship cards and 110 full-color action cards, along with a six-sided die and rulebook. The cards are printed in full color on both sides and feature rounded corners, giving the game a polished presentation.
Whether you are recreating Cold War matchups, exploring the Falkland Islands War setting, or staging post-2000 naval battles, the system lets you choose the fleet and ships that define your strategy before competing for ultimate supremacy of the seas.
