About this board game

Moesteiro is a 2022 board game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes, in which architects compete to become the most prolific and important of their time.

Set toward the end of the XIV Century, the game draws on the construction of the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, commissioned by King D. João I. Prestigious architects, master craftsmen, and apprentices have come from across Europe, seeking financial rewards, prestige, and knowledge.

In Moesteiro, each player is in charge of a team of workers and master artisans. The game unfolds over five rounds. Once all dice have been placed, players perform actions according to the numbered action areas, resolving them in order from I to V.

• Place dice and resolve the action areas in sequence.
• Lead workers and master artisans while competing for glory.
• Take opportunities to help construct the monastery.
• Earn Victory Points from several sources throughout the game.

Victory Points can be earned from the King tiles, the village, and contributions to the monastery’s construction. At the end of the game, players can also score sets of different unused stonework and stained glass tiles, along with their positions on the labour track.

After five rounds, the player with the most Victory Points wins. With its historical setting, dice placement, and multiple scoring opportunities, Moesteiro puts every architect’s team to work in the pursuit of lasting recognition.
