About this board game
Monopoly: The Mega Edition is a 2–8 player property-trading game designed to play in about 90 minutes. It expands the classic real-estate race with a larger board, new properties, extra building options, and tools that can speed up movement.
The massive board adds 12 spaces, including nine new properties: California, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, South Carolina, Arctic Avenue, and the Gas Company. Each joins an existing property group, giving players more opportunities to complete sets and develop their holdings.
Once you own a full group, you can build houses and hotels before advancing to Skyscrapers, which offer the chance to collect “mega” rents. Development can begin earlier than in regular Monopoly: you may build houses and hotels after owning three of four properties in a group, or two of three in the smaller groups. Railroad owners can also add a Depot to double a railroad’s rent.
- Start with $2,500, including a $1,000 bill.
- Roll two regular dice plus the special Speed Die.
- Use Bus Tickets to travel where you want, while they last.
- Build Skyscrapers and Train Depots for larger rent opportunities.
The Speed Die can offer a free trip to the next unowned property. Later in the game, it may instead send you to the next property where you owe rent, creating a painful surprise. Bus Tickets add another flexible movement option, but they expire, keeping decisions urgent.
With expanded buying opportunities and more ways to move, Monopoly: The Mega Edition delivers a larger, faster, and more intense take on property development.
