About this board game
Monsters vs. Heroes: Victorian Nightmares is a fast card game for 2–8 players that takes about 30 minutes. Set in the streets of Victorian London, it pits secret factions of Heroes and Monsters against one another in a battle of strategy, deception, and survival.
At the start, each player receives a hidden faction card revealing whether they support the Heroes or the Monsters. On your turn, choose whether to play a card from your hand or draw a new one. Cards provide black points for Monsters or white points for Heroes, while also introducing characters with special abilities that can change the course of the game.
- Dracula can control the forces of darkness.
- Van Helsing can destroy the undead.
- Frankenstein’s monster can cause havoc.
- Arsene Lupin can steal a card from another player.
- Jekyll and Hyde discard one another.
The deck contains 30 cards featuring 18 different characters. Some are unique and deadly, such as the werewolf, while others are more common and less powerful, including the brave young men. Your secret faction card can also award an extra point if you have a particular character in front of you at the end, making certain cards especially valuable to some players.
When the last card is drawn, everyone reveals their faction and counts their points. Only one player can win, so careful play, clever timing, and a willingness to deceive your friends can make all the difference. First released as London After Midnight, Monsters vs. Heroes: Victorian Nightmares is an accessible choice for fans of quick card games and classic horror.
