About this board game
Mot Coin is an auction-style board game for 3–5 players, with games lasting around 45 minutes. Released in 2023, it challenges players to bid on a virtual currency that continues to undergo hard forks.
The game uses dice as bids, but your supply is limited. You can display as many of your available dice as you like, and larger numbers are stronger. Setting every die you have to 6 may create a powerful bid, but doing so can leave you with fewer dice for what comes next.
The dice used to pay for an auction do not immediately return to you. Instead, they remain on the Mot Coin card you won until the dice count is reduced to 0. Recovering them is therefore an important concern throughout the game.
- Dice-driven auctions: Use a limited collection of dice to make your bids.
- Strength through numbers: Higher displayed numbers produce stronger bids.
- Locked payments: Dice spent on a card remain there until its dice count reaches 0.
- Hard-forking currency: The virtual currency continues to change during play.
Reducing the dice count may be difficult—and it may even increase instead. This creates a persistent risk: dice committed to Mot Coin cards can remain unavailable, affecting how much bidding power you retain.
At the end of the game, any dice you have not recovered can put you in trouble. In Mot Coin, choosing how many dice to reveal, how high to set them, and when to commit them is at the heart of the auction.
