About this board game
Murano is a board game for 2–4 players that plays in about 75 minutes, set among the seven islands of Murano near Venice. Known for its glassmaking, this island group provides the setting for a game where gondolas, transportation, shops, tourists, and glassworks all shape your pursuit of victory points.
The board shows Murano divided into building sites and walkways, with canals surrounding the islands. Gondolas begin on some of the action spaces around the board. On your turn, move one gondola in the direction of play to an empty space, then carry out the action shown there.
- Gondolas cannot pass one another or move into an occupied space.
- Coins can be spent to move a gondola blocking the one you want to use, including multiple gondolas when necessary.
- Actions can place different types of shops on the islands and mark them for ownership.
- Personal gondolas must be moved to islands so you can take actions there.
When tourists arrive, they visit shops based on proximity and the goods those shops offer. You are working toward victory point cards, which you can gain through actions; these cards provide direction for your plans or let you profit from things you have already accomplished.
Some buildings can become glassworks, linking glass production to victory point cards and tourist sales. A board action also lets you sell different types of glass for money. Released in 2014, Murano combines movement choices, island development, ownership, tourism, and glassmaking into one interconnected challenge.
The 2020 Complete Edition includes the Murano: Promo Cards and Murano: The Christmas Tree content packaged inside the box.
