About this board game
Murray the A**hole Frog is a 3–6 player card game of set collection and set destruction, with play lasting about 45 minutes. Build insect swarms to score points, use special abilities to shape your plans, and send Murray after your opponents’ carefully assembled sets.
On your turn, you have full access to the cards in your hand, alongside limited access to a common deck and a small pool of revealed cards. The deck includes common flies—fruit flies, midges, houseflies, and mayflies—as well as royal flies, wasps, and Murray himself.
- Common flies help you build swarms and gain more cards.
- Royal flies and wasps contribute to swarms and provide unique special abilities.
- Murray can eat opponents’ swarms, disrupting their scoring plans.
- Tadpoles are left behind when Murray eats a swarm and can quickly become valuable.
Players keep their swarms face up in front of them. Higher-value insects and groups of insects of the same type form more valuable swarms, but every strong collection can become a target. Choosing when to develop your own score and when to ruin another player’s plans is central to success.
The game also includes a changing endgame. When the hawk arrives in the second round, it sets the end triggers in motion, adding urgency to your decisions as the game progresses.
In Murray the A**hole Frog, your final score is based on the swarms and tadpoles you own. Manage Murray carefully, exploit opportunities, and maximize your score to win.
