About this board game
Museum is a collection and bartering board game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Released in 2019, it places you in the role of a curator during the golden age of museums.
Begin with a small collection of relics, then send explorers around the world to uncover more. Every relic has a value: it can be the cost of adding another item to your museum or contribute toward that cost. Relics you spend are placed in your reserve, where they can later be exchanged for an equal number of items—but your opponents can also access your reserve.
Building a successful museum means creating coherent collections. Assemble relics by categories such as war, agriculture, and architecture, or by periods and cultures including Ancient Egypt, Rome, and the Aztec world. These collections can help you pursue the bonuses offered by Patron cards.
- Explorer cards: Hire famous archaeologists to provide bonuses for your museum.
- Event cards: Adapt to game-changing circumstances based on historical events.
- Relic trading: Use the value of your collection to acquire new pieces and manage your reserve.
- Rich presentation: Discover over 300 individual illustrations by Vincent Dutrait alongside authentic architectural facts.
At the end of Museum, players score their collections and their value. The curator with the most points wins, rewarding thoughtful acquisition, careful bartering, and an eye for assembling a compelling exhibition.
