About this board game

Mystères? is a riddle and deduction game for 3–8 players, with plays lasting about 45 minutes. One player becomes the Master of Mysteries, while everyone else works to identify a hidden word from carefully chosen clues.

At the start of a round, the Master of Mysteries secretly draws a word and its category. They then create a 3×3 square of nine category tiles, including the category connected to the answer. In turn, players choose a tile. If it matches the answer’s category, the Master confirms it and sets the tile aside.

If the selected category does not match, the Master must either give a clue that fits that category or discard the tile back into the bag. A tile that receives a clue is flipped and cannot be selected again. After each turn, the active player may make one guess at the hidden word.

• Categories: books, films and TV, music and songs, famous people, generic people, shapes and colors, numbers, matter, items, places, animals, and verbs.
• Scoring: a correct guess awards both the guesser and the Master points equal to the number of non-discarded tiles chosen during the round.
• Interruptions: after a clue or discard, any player who thinks they know the answer can interrupt and make themselves eligible to answer.

Players who interrupt answer in clockwise order. A correct answer wins the round, while an incorrect player is eliminated until the next round. After a number of rounds determined by the player count, the player with the most points wins. Mystères? rewards precise clues, flexible deduction, and the nerve to commit to an answer.
