About this expansion

Mystic Vale: Shard Eater is a 2017 promo pack for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. It introduces Shard Eater advancements, elementals that consume glowing sunshards to harness their pure energy and resist the corrupting curse spreading through the Valley of Life.

The Shard Eater advancement has the lowest mana cost for a growth symbol in the game. This lets you add a growth to your deck as early as the first turn, creating an immediate opportunity to develop your cards.

That early strength comes with a lasting cost. While a Shard Eater remains in your field, it lowers your mana during future turns, so its powerful opening effect must be weighed against the resources you will lose later.

Shard Eater also offers a way to work around decay. Placing one of these advancements in a card with a Cursed Land neutralizes that card’s decay symbol, allowing you to sow your field with more cards.

  • Includes 3 Shard Eater advancements.
  • Provides one advancement for the top, middle, and bottom slots.
  • Lets players craft cards with Shard Eater in any slot position.

With its sunshard theme and distinctive resource trade-off, Mystic Vale: Shard Eater adds an early growth option that demands careful long-term planning. Use its low-cost growth symbol, manage the reduced future mana, and place it strategically to neutralize Cursed Land decay.
