About this board game

Mythology: A Game of Adventure in the Age of Heros is a 240-minute game of Greek gods, heroes, monsters, and unpredictable Fate, described for 2–8 players and listed for 2–10.

Each player takes on the persona and idiosyncrasies of one of the major Greek gods. From that position, players attempt to control the actions of the many and varied Greek heroes and monsters of the then-known world.

The game combines the possibility of pre-planning with the disruptive force of random events. The Fates can have a major impact on play, creating sudden turns of fortune that can reshape the course of an adventure.

  • Play as one of the major Greek gods.
  • Control the actions of Greek heroes and monsters.
  • Plan ahead while facing random events and the Fates.
  • Heroes can return from the dead, so one setback need not end your game.

Bad luck with one hero is not necessarily disastrous. In Mythology: A Game of Adventure in the Age of Heros, the fallen can come back from the dead, giving players another chance to recover from misfortune and continue their struggle for control.

With its mythological setting, character-driven roles, and dramatic swings caused by events and Fate, the game presents an extended contest in which planning and uncertainty work side by side. It was released in 1980.
