About this board game
Napoleon’s Eagles: Storm in the East – The Battles of Borodino and Leipzig is a two-player, card-driven game of Napoleonic warfare, playing in 30–90 minutes or around four hours for a large campaign.
Set during the pivotal years from Autumn 1812 to Autumn 1813, the game recreates two major battles: Borodino, the bloody confrontation before Moscow, and Leipzig, the “Battle of Nations” that marked the beginning of the end of the French Empire.
Players command Infantry and Cavalry Corps while managing the pressures of battle through action-packed card play. The system emphasizes the careful use of reserves and the judicious commitment of infantry and cavalry, with rules covering cavalry charges, artillery bombardment, army morale, and army commanders.
- Two featured battles: Borodino and Leipzig
- Smaller scenarios for Shevardino and Lieberwolkwitz
- Campaign games covering September 5th–7th, 1812 at Borodino and October 14th–18th, 1813 at Leipzig
- Key terrain including Leipzig and Borodino’s famous Great Redoubt
Time is abstracted, with one full day of battle represented by six turns. Terrain, battlefield objectives, morale, artillery, cavalry, and commanders combine to give each engagement its distinctive character while keeping the game highly playable.
Napoleon’s Eagles includes 225 poker-sized cards: 89 Unit Cards, 32 Terrain and Info Cards, and 104 Playing Cards. The set also contains two player aid cards, three scenario setup cards, and a rules and scenario book.
