About this board game

Napoleon’s War II: The Gates of Moscow is a two-player board game with 60-minute battles, placing the French Army of Napoleon against Austrian and Russian forces.

The second game in the Napoleon’s War Series, it includes custom game boards for Marengo, Austerlitz, Aspern-Essling, and Borodino. Each battle is designed to be played in approximately one to two hours, offering focused engagements within the broader Napoleonic Wars from 1796 to 1815.

Players command armies represented by plastic figures in blue, white, and green, portraying the French, Austrian, and Russian forces. Infantry, artillery, and cavalry are shown with plastic pieces, while counters represent special units, leaders, and other elements of the battlefield.

  • Four custom battle boards: Marengo, Austerlitz, Aspern-Essling, and Borodino
  • Plastic infantry, artillery, and cavalry figures
  • Counters for special units and leaders
  • The Hold the Line command action point system
  • An optional chit-pull system suited to solitaire play

The game uses the Hold the Line command action point system, giving players a structured way to direct their forces. An optional chit-pull system adds another method of managing play and is especially suited to solitaire sessions.

Napoleon’s War II: The Gates of Moscow highlights the strengths and weaknesses of different nationalities and units, along with the various formations available to them. Released in 2011, it is a sequel to Napoleon’s War: The 100 Days.
